Hey Geoff -

Have you built the Version 8 beta yet and have it working with WebObjects? I just downloaded it and was going to try it this weekend but thought I'd check if everything is cool with the JDBC driver and Wonder plug-in before I spend hours working on it.
The version 8 features look pretty nice!

Thanks
Mike

Sad man's Saturday night, sitting here, working on WebObjects, using
Postgres. It's free, supports transactions etc. Version 8 beta is out
that installs on Windows, otherwise version 7.4.x available for Linux,
MacOSX...do yourself a favour and have a look at it. It's very good -
and I say that having worked extensively on Oracle, Sybase, OpenBase,
FrontBase, MySql and SQLServer...but no 4th Dimension.

If you are on Mac:

You'll need a plugin to help with the primary key generation - go and
look at Project WONDER - there is a plugin there.

And David Teran has pulled out just the Postgres plugin

That should keep you busy until Match of the Day starts :-)

I'm new to WebObjects, well I haven't actually started yet, I'm just
deciding whether to use it for my next project. I've been looking at the
various DBMS and things like Openbase and Frontbase seem a little highly
priced for my initial needs especially when you can use MySQL for free BUT
I'm not overly keen on using MySQL so I wondered if anyone was using or had
used 4D, they have a JDBC driver etc.. and are reasonably priced.

I'm looking to use it for a web application.
