Hi Cliff

thanks for your time in looking into this

Could we have a statement from the WebObjects team please? Is Java
1.4.2 safe for WebObjects?

Maybe you missed this?

I sure did.

I check email@hidden constantly, and I never delete (currently 5748 messages in the webobjects-dev box, none unread)
The last mail from Daryl Lee in my webobjects-dev mailbox was December 5 last year.

.mac mail had a bad day earlier this week and I thing Daryl's mail falls into the timeslot of the outage. Apple eventually made an announcement that they were up to date and everything was OK, but it stopped short of saying whether anything might be lost.
I noticed that there were only 3 webobjects-dev emails on the 2nd, compared to 9 the day before and 15 the day after. I'm in a different time zone from you, so daily counts won't exactly tally.

It looks like Daryl's email was a victim of mischance. Maybe an single email response wasn't the best way to get this important information out.

Kieran,
WebObjects 5.2.2 has not been officially qualified with Java 1.4.2.
Java 1.4.2 has a different XML parser than 1.4.1 and could cause
problems serializing/deserializing WO classes. Other than that, there
aren't any known potential issues. Please file bugs if you encounter
any problems.
