I am not running a dns. The box is running mail, ftp, apache, webobjects, and openbase. It is behind a firewall.

You both running 5.2.2 on Mac OS X Server 10.3.2? If so, I'd be interested in learning your DNS setup. Especially if you're deploying everything off one machine and hosting DNS on the same box.
