As many have mentioned here, WebObjects is, at the very least, not
getting Apple's full attention.
Being a newbie, but not having tens of thousands for a WebSphere
environment, what advice would the more optimistic of you have for
someone who is:
1) Trying to learn a technology that will allow one to deploy scalable,
multi-user, data-driven web applications.
2) Learn a language that is "modern" and will be with us for at least a
few years (i.e. Java) (what good is that powerbuilder doing me?)
3) Funding this out of personal capital (both time and money).
I've investigated PHP, ASP, and a few others, and, while WO seems to be
niche and receiving Apple's typical support, it also seems to be
excellent technology. I'd just hate to spend a year getting really good
at WO only to find I should have invested my efforts elsewhere.
Thoughts?

To deflate the zealots self satisfaction from time to time :)
Do you mean "to discourage, confuse and annoy hardworking people?"
If this brings you satisfaction you are not a well person.
