I agree that there are plenty of questions regarding Apple's commitment
to WebObjects. However, it is wrong to assume that because EOModeler is
being developed in Objective-C / Cocoa it won't work on Windows. The
current Windows version of EOModeler, WOBuilder and ProjectBuilder were
developed using Objective-c / Cocoa (or Yellowbox as it is called in
Windows). Cocoa is an evolution of Next's frameworks - which are quite
platform independant.
I have no idea what Apple's plans for WebObjects are on any platform - let
alone on Windows. However, I don't think mis-information helps.
I really hope Apple continue to release updated tools for Windows - I agree
that if Apple were to drop the Windows tools - they'd lose more developers
than they would convince to switch. I just hope we get some good news in
June at WWDC.
If I had the chance to attend this year's WWDC, I'd ask this topical
question myself, but alas, i'm not going to be able to, so can all of you
that are going to be there do me a hugh favor; ask some firm questions as to
what is going on with WebObjects tools on the windows platform (if not all)
other than it's very own. I would be most greatful to you all... insistance
and persistance will find you an answer. Many thanks in advance, don't
forget! I'll be here in June waiting for the verdict.
Kind regards
Jonathan

Yet I can build (and many students do build) my own PC system for less
than AU$1000. You cannot get an equivalent Mac for that price, And few
tertiary students here can afford to splash out on new
hardware/software. IF WO becomes a Mac only development platform then
few people in IT here are likely to buy Macs for development. Now I can
only go on my experiences here in Australia, so YMMV, but I'm just
telling it as I see it.

I have not yet used Eclipse/WOLips but from what I read here, it would
be difficult to program using these without WOVuilder and EOModeler and
someone else mentioned that current development of EOModeler is being
conducted in Obj C and Cocoa (read no further development in Windows).
My argument is why would a Windows based developer consider/buy tools
which are incomplete and whose development has ceased for his platform.
It appears to me the Eclipse solution is not complete at the moment.
