yes, it does, you dont need the shite IDE that apple provides,
all you need is a class path containing the relevant jars and a way to
package the app. You can edit eomodel files using a text editor.
I have used WO professionally for over 4.5 years and in the last year
and a half of that development time used redhat linux and emacs to
develop test and deploy on.
A guy I worked with wrote a bunch of perl scripts to create WO
applications from a template, add WO components, subprojects, EOEntities
to EOModels and code generation tools to generate the EOGenericRecord
subclasses. I think it took him a few days to build all these tools.
All command line, it was great.
Also the compile time was at the very least twice as fast without all
the makefile crap.
It was a hell of a lot better than using the windows or the mac tools
IMO.
I cant live without at least 6 vitual desktops! :)
Development worked on the same structure that deployment used.
I miss it. Now i'm working at a different company using EJB and struts
etc. I am trying to get WO in the door!
So its definatly possible to develop on the unsupported platforms,
and It was a hell of a lot more enjoyable! :)
