I'm not at WWDC. Just putting things together...

1) No major developments/announcements in WO
2) New framework called Core Data (session description below)
3) EOF's not on the desktop, but people keep asking for it
4) Bill Bumgarner's been there a year

Core Data: This session provides an overview of the new Core Data framework in Cocoa. It will focus on the new functionality provided for managing and persisting model objects, which includes automatic undo/redo, input validation, and saving to various types of "persistent stores" (SQL and XML).

We all know the WO team is small and their expertise is probably being utilized to create Core Data.

So Apple kills EO on the desktop. Most people in the community scream they want it (back). Tiger rolls around and it looks like they've provided what we've (as a community) asked for in Core Data. Now that Core Data is coming with Tiger, there will 64-bit OS with a shiny new EO-type framework for me to develop with. Sign me up.

Can you (or anyone else) tell us (those not at WWDC) any more about Core Data?

Is it really comparable to EOF? How is it different?

Does it work with different databases (not just SQLite)?

What about JNDI sources?

I assume it is object-relational mapping?

Is it only for the local machine or can it talk to remote databases?

Can two application / users talk to the same database (SQLite) at the same time using it?

Does it have caching like EOF?

Is it red, green or blue? Animal, mineral or vegetable?

Thanks,
Ashley.
