Ryan and all,

I'm torn on the idea. First, let me try to muster some positive input. I would like to see 2 things in such a site.

1) Built in WebObjects. I think that would be crucial for credibility.
2) Discussion boards with email options. I've always preferred discussion boards with searchable archives and threaded displays. Apple used to provide this before switching to the email list (grrrrrr - another display of reduced commitment and support). Yahoo groups has a pretty active WO community discussion, and its searchable, but the interface and features could be greatly improved. Omni Group has another list. All good WebObjects discussion seems split among these 3. It would nice to have everyone together. The most important benefit of such a discussion board would be increased, reliable traffic. Otherwise, the new site might just become another dud.

I'm using WebObjects on 3 different projects now (2 internal, 1 external). I'm stuck with it until I figure out something better. So a site such as this would come in handy, at least for a couple of years or so.

Now another word from still-bitter Trae...
I would like to see such a site, but we should keep our expectations realistic. No matter what we all do as a community, we cannot save WebObjects without Apple. And therefore, we cannot save WebObjects.

I still think we might all be better served by a site that weaned us all off of WebObjects. Kind of a "WebObjects Anonymous" site. A 14-step program with a strong support group that helps us all put this thing out of its misery and move on.

I'll stop...

Trae Nickelson

P.S. There is a lot of existing material out there, provided by several well-intentioned WO users of the past. A lot of it is VERY well done and should be incorporated or at least linked by the new site.
