Okay, I've been asked another simple question regarding WebObjects and
cannot properly explain it. Can someone give me a good explanation,
please?

The question...

"When SETTING a value for WOComponent, why must one use
'takeValueForKey?' Should it not be 'setValueForKey' or something
similar? Why the word 'take?'"

Interesting question. Here's my "take" which may have no bearing on reality.

1) It's a historical accident. Most of WO predates the o-o revolution.
2) It's an advisory. takeValueForKey doesn't necessarily work the same as things in a more traditional setting. All the validation, etc may cause your "set" not to take.

There's my stab at it.
