Thanks, but no problem there - I have a CS degree and *cough* almost 20
years experience in the field. I can read Java just fine, but I know
I'm missing some of the subtleties so I thought it might be a good idea
to go over the basics. I haven't worked in C++ for a while now (5+
years), so I need to retrain my brain to think OO. :)

Janine,
I recommend getting at least a basic understanding of Java before
learning anything about WebObjects. Start with Sun or a book about
Java programming. Then move to WO technologies.
The Apple doc you mention may be a bit difficult if you're new to
programming in general ... "The chief assumption this guide makes
about your background is that your are a programmer. From a multitude
of languages, you have used at least one, ideally two or more." I
haven't read it, though, so I could be wrong.

Would I be better off reading Apple's various Java docs, starting
with Java for WebObjects Developers, or a more generic Java tutorial
like the one from Sun? I imagine the latter would be better and more
up-to-date, but that the former would be more helpful in learning the
WO Way. Thoughts?
thanks,
