Has anyone written a DTJC using an embedded DB?

I have written DTJC apps and liked the richer UI that it has to offer
over HTML, etc.
Even more compelling is, I would like to take my Track-Your-Finances WO
app and re-write it as a DTJC app and then make it so that the DTJC app
can use a client DB rather than the server DB under some conditions.
So, I have the following unknown path...
1) Convert the WOBuilder files to InterfaceBuilder files?
2) Embed a SQL DB in the DTJC app and have that be the DB, I'm
considering <HSQLDB>.
Has anyone been down this path?
