Seems to me that the $700 to license WO could just be included in the pricing for your app - the improvements in time to market and just overall quality of the product should outweigh a relatively small amount of one time cost per client, yes?

How about ease of development that WO offers? If you're limited to open-source application server development, then you and your customers will have to expect development to be more arduous, time-consuming, etc. There is still no free lunch.
