I think you misunderstood me. I agree with you - if you start out on
Windows, it is difficult to use a Mac (you have to adjust). If you start
out on a Mac, it's difficult to use Windows (much more so I think). My
point was that I use BOTH platforms now, all the time, and I am perfectly
capable to do the same things on both.
I am not talking about only WO, I am talking about ANYTHING that you need to
do with a computer. They are both computers, both with their own operating
systems. The computer cannot teach you how to use it, how have to learn.
I have a Mac in front of me now, and the buttons you require are in the same
place as every other computer in the world. Obviously, I do not use the
basic Mac keyboard and mouse as I agree they are not as useful as I would
like. I use a standard Logitech keyboard and mouse and have exactly the
same functionality as does any windows user. Scroll mouse with multiple
buttons, extended keyboard with all the keys you mention as well as many
others.
I do not use Eclipse and have no major problem with the WO environment
(while I do agree it could be improved, and hope it will be).
In what way did I suggest you change your behaviour? I suggest you
understand fully what you are talking about before you start a discussion on
it :-)
Anyway, as I said, I don't think this is the place for a debate on Mac vs.
Windows. Personally, I think that WO should be available for both
platforms, in both runtime and development terms. I don't think anyone
should be forced to change from developing on their platform of choice
merely because the software does not support it. However the fact that one
is USED to using one platform and does not know how to use the other, does
not mean that the other is useless. This applies both ways - for someone
who uses a Mac and has to change to Windows (try and match that
frustration!) or for someone that uses Windows and has to use a Mac. As I
said, I use both and I am not trying to advocate one in particular, but my
personal preference is for Mac. If you took away my Mac, I could do what I
need on Windows (although I would be sad :-().
Regards,
Dave.
