WO front-end to interact with Server Admin

Hi,
Did anyone try to make a web app to allow web-based users administration on OS X server?
Which way would you go:
-make a web-based to interact with Server Admin
-make a completely different system (not using Open Directory), and go with MySQL

The main purpose of this is to allow web users (their using the mail server and WebDAV) to change their password and maybe some other settings later.

I know some people did something in MySQL as Postfix can work with it, but as Server Admin is now (as of Panther) a lot more scalable, maybe I could go with a web-based front-end to interact directly with Server Admin (Open Directory). Any comments/suggestions are welcome;)

Xavier
