I'm not using windows, but when this happens on my Mac (to a much lesser extent), I do a select-all (command-a, control-a for wind) and then click somewhere in the text to deselect the text. If it's just a small block of characters, I'll just highlight with the mouse and then click to deselect. This somehow corrects the colors.

Dunno if it helps on windows, but ...

I often find that when I go to a .java file to edit it or if I paste a piece of code in or even remove a bit of code, everything or part of the .java file will loose the colouring syntax ...
