Project Wonder includes a wrapper framework for this. You will probably be
a lot happier if you just use that. The JavaMail API is NOT pretty!

One way or another, I don't quiet see the benefit of using something
as sprawling as Project Wonder to simply send mail :o)

PA.

I have to agree with Petite Abeille in this case. For simple mail sending purposes--as Nathan was using it for--JavaMail methods such as setFrom(), addRecipient(), setSubject() and setText() can hardly be described as an ugly API. You can't get any more clear and direct than that. We have simple mail sending code in our application that involves less than 10 lines of code written directly against the JavaMail. Not so bad. Admittedly, for more advanced purposes such as sending component-based emails, you can't go wrong with Wonder.

Linking to Project Wonder--however great a framework it is--is a big commitment. It's a large collection of comprehensive, interdependent tools. If you want to use ERJavaMail, you've got to link to several other Wonder frameworks. IMHO, that's a bit on the ugly side!

Please don't interpret my comments as a criticism of Wonder itself. It's great, and is a real asset to the WebObjects community. I'm very glad people like Max, Anjo, and the others have shown their commitment by making these tools available. It's just rather monolithic, and due to the interdependencies requires a kind of all-or-nothing approach to its use. That's something that takes time and development resources.

Best,

Colin
