Using the actual IP solved it.
By the way, what is the significance of the using the SelectMethod and
Trusted_Connection parameters with WebObjects?

where uspalws01 is the name of the PC and the database name is
legacydb
This is the error I get
[Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Driver for JDBC]Error establishing socket.
just a thought: Can you ping the database server? Does the name
lookup work? Try using the IP address instead of the computer name.
