I have a save button which is calling saveChanges on the editingContext. According to what I understand so far, this could emit a EOGeneralAdaptorException if someone modified the record after the initial fetch and before this save attempt. By "java client" do you mean the client side (as opposed to the server side) of a java client application or "java client" as opposed to a "web application"?
Was meaning client side. Should have been more explicit.
If you ment client side it would explain all the conflicting information I've been reading.

It also means I have to figure out how to call a server side method from the client side...
Not too difficult. Was always a bit discouraging how to figure out this, but quite simple in the end (if only I remembered how).
