OK -

I decided to get the OSX Server to install on my Mac Mini.

I was recently hacked... they did not get into webobjects, however, this has scared the sh*t out of me!
So, I am placing my webobjects app and mysql on their own server with nothing opened except the
very very basics... http, ssh.

The sad part is I have no idea how they got in yet.

Correct. The WO license is on a per machine basis.

Ok I found my answer in the License Agreement (http://www.apple.com/legal/sla/macosxserver.html); the limitation for the 10-client edition is only for connections using AFP or SMB. I don't see any limitation for WebObjects.

Hi,

Is the Mac OS X Server (10-client) can be used for WebObjects deployment ?

Or the unlimited-Client edition is a requirement for WebObjects deployment (if you don't have a WO deployment license)?

Thanks!

To answer your question: no, you don't need to purchase Mac OS X Server. You just need a WO deployment license.

To answer it further, Mac OS X Server (10-client) is a great bargain if: 1) you need any of the additional functionality that Server offers, or 2) you don't already have a WO deployment license. Since Server starts at $499, it is cheaper than purchasing WO ($699) for the purpose of obtaining a WO deployment license (and you get more stuff). But, if you already have deployment license and don't need anything else from Server, then you don't need it.

I am about to deploy WebObjects on a Mac Mini and was wondering if I needed to also buy
Mac OS X Server? Or, can I just install WebObjects on it and give it the deployment license key?
