Oh, sorry, I thought you've ment phpmyadmin is displaying wrong data.

Anyway, it could be necessary to tune your WOapp to return utf-8, too. That's
more complicated, IIRC it's described in in Practical WebObjects. Or check
the list's archive, I've asked that question months ago :-)
