Mike,
The WebObjects 5.3 installer is missing some files (when will Apple fix
this?). You need to copy the *.template files from an earlier WebObjects
installation and put them in:
/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/EOModelWizard.framework/Resources/
Once you've done this EOModeler will be able to generate Java files again.
Contact me off-list if you need a copy of the files.

The path is correct, writable and happens to be the same directory
where EOModeler is saving the EOModel itself which is the projects
directory. The directory is owned by the same user as is running the
EOModeler application and is located on the same machine.
Any suggestions would be appreciated,
