My question is whether anyone has had any WO experience with a recent version of a database server that would tell you to never use it again for WO applications?

I use postgres because the price is right, it's almost feature competitive with Oracle, the pgSQL community is very supportive and the plugin support from Project Wonder is excellent.

I don't use mysql because I'm a belt&suspenders developer: I want the database to be able to protect itself from bad data no matter what dumb thing I've done in code. That, and I prefer ANSI SQL.

Oracle is too expensive and does null strings incorrectly.

Don't know much about Frontbase or OpenBase but they are popular with many WO developers.
