I use postgres because the price is right, it's almost feature competitive with Oracle, the pgSQL community is very supportive and the plugin support from Project Wonder is excellent.

I do agree that if "free" is a must pgSQL is best. If one expects reliable support by the vendor (as in most deployment situations) FrontBase just shines! Also after working with 2+TB large databases I still have to find her limits. Most of the databases listed in the original email will never start under such data load....
