I'd be surprised if WireHose only saved you 40 hours. Though it
might not the first time. Like WebObjects it has a steep learning
curve. Once you get in control of the power, you can really make
things happen.
Another thing to look at is Pierre Frisch's http://www.spearcat.com/
(sPearCat, nothing to do with spearing cats).

Thank you Chuck for answering....
Unfortunately most of my projects 80% are fixed. What I am looking
for is developmental speed. I need to create a system to manage
extranet users, report on them, use a product database for the
extranet AND for an online catalog (one has more info, along with
ordering) and a "skinnable" interface whereby I can offer a catalog
(same products) but with a different companies branding. Now I am
pretty darn good at WebObjects and I must say I do love it, but,
sometimes PHP does the trick with all the "canned" scripts out there.
If WireHose can manage permissions, skinning, users, and the
ability to integrate a nice product catalog, I think it could save
me about 40+ hours or so of effort. Is this reasonable to assume?

Just wondering if anyone has used WireHose?
yes. :-)
Is it worth it?
That depends. Look at what your application needs. Look at what
the WireHose API provides. How much time will that save you? How
much will the licenses for WireHose cost? Can you bill the client
for the value or does using WireHose result in less billable for you?
What do people like or dislike about it?
I like that it does a lot of things that I seem to need in each
application. The downside is that it is a lot like WO: very large
and not over extensively documented. No, I won't be writing
Practical WireHose. :-P
I need to do a new app for a client. Mainly a database of
products with a bit of extranet features.
User? Permissions? External sources of information?
Localization? Changable layouts? You will have to asses the
functionality fit. I can tell you that Gary does very nice work.
WireHose would not be out of place integrated into WebObjects.
