Thanks Kuon for this.... We are preparing to possibly deploy in some
environments that will contain NO OS X Server machines, mainly
Windows 2000 Server, OUCH, but yes, maybe this can be done
painlessly ? Anybody?
Can tomcat be put on Windows 2000 Server?
You mention, Kuon that you don't have to have apache running? Does
tomcat function as a webserver?
thx.

Hello,
servlet deployment is simpler. For example, in tomcat you drop the
single dir in webapp/ dir and press reload in the manager, and you
have a go.
We use Sun Application server in our company for clustering.
Servlet deployment put the session in a standard servlet session
wrapper. This allow you to access session from any server in the
cluster.
You also have access to simpler administration, as you don't have
to have an apache running.
For performances, I can't say as I didn't benchmark it. But our app
"seems" "stronger" in our servlet environment.

Is there any speed advantages or even deployment administration
time saved going with a servlet deployment using tomcat versus
using Java Monitor?
And I do mean application performance enhancement?
Is it quicker and easier to deploy with tomcat? I have never
attempted but would like to give it a shot this next week.
I would just like to hear a bottom line from somebody who really
has experienced both deployment options and which one is easier
and more seamless to deal with.
Thanks a million to any responses,
Nathan
