Not an expert in this side of WebObjects (yet!), but seems to me that a simple backgrounding of the process should work; try:

/System/Library/WebObjects/JavaApplications/wotaskd.woa/wotaskd &

Hope that helps.

According to Apple doc <Starting WebObjects Services> you can start <wotaskd> and <Monitor> automatically from your command shell editor:

Open /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.wotaskd.plist and set the Disable key value to false.
Open /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.womonitor.plist and set the Disable key value to false.

In my plist file I have both values false, JavaMonitor starts automatically but not <wotaskd>.

If I enter from Terminal,

    /System/Library/WebObjects/JavaApplications/wotaskd.woa/wotaskd

<wotaskd> starts, and all the WO apps fire, BUT, if I close the Terminal window, either on the server or remotely, <wotaskd> quits and all the WO apps stop.

Does anyone know about starting <wotaskd> on 10.4 server and having it stay active?
