Installation matches that described in URL below.
Used 127.0.0.1, localhost and actual host.
With and without port id.
User/password as part of URL with and without specifiying in form above.
Since Tomcat works fine I assume the mm.mysql.jar matches the DB.
Changing the user to one without privileges in mysql gives the expected error message.
Removing the mm.mysql.jar gives the expected message.
I had other problems with WebObjects yesterday so the system was completely rebuilt last night.
The other problems are gone but this one remains. I still get error "Communications failure during handshake. Is there a server running on localhost:3306?"
I've been using mm.mysql.jar and mysql for years in NetBeans with Tomcat and have never had this problem.
***I'm stumped***
