Since that code is (presumably) done and bug-free and tested-by-usage long ago. That is reason strong enough to keep it, at least in my experience with maintaining big projects over many years.


If the code needs re-factoring anyway, well, that's another story: in such a case there might be a point in re-writing it into Java. But if it is not so, there is no advantage in Java strong enough to re-write something which is more than moderately complex, and which works well.
