Hi!
I have developed a Java Client application
of my own. At its core it is a D2JavaClient application, but it has lots
of custom components and other customizations.
The trouble with the technology is that
it stacks several layers of complexity: application server, rule engine,
network communications, dynamic components, swing,..
Things can go wrong with any of them.
It can take a lot of time to track down problems.
The other problem is that different
technologies are being combined. To master this you need to master all
the underlying technologies: EOF, WebObjects components, D2W, EOInterface
and Swing. You will have to write code using or extending all of those.
Often times you will have many options to achieve the same result.
I am not aware of any documentation
beyond what Apple provides. All in all the documentation is pretty good
to get you started. However the inner workings of the EOInterface layer,
though crucial, are hardly documented. Then there is swing - the abomination
of all frameworks,...
Your best bet is the mailing list. You
will often have to resort to trail and error.
