WOBuilder can't accept arbitrary HTML in its layout mode. See the
system console (/Applications/Utilities/Console) for error messages
when WOBuilder flakes out.

I will probably spend some time this weekend to isolate the
circumstances, but I'm fairly sure this behavior has nothing to do
with Preferences or the Defaults system. So when I've isolated it,
I'll file a bug report. This, of course, shouldn't stop you from
filing one as well, if you're experiencing the same bug.
