I wonder if you’re talking about WOBuilder complaining about invalid html (when in fact you believe it to be valid). Is this the case?

Enter valid HTML in Source View mode, then click "Layout" to change to Layout View. Then add something using the UI in Layout View. It is very easy to enter valid HTML in Source View mode that makes Layout View mode fail while editing in Layout View mode afterwards.
