Enter valid HTML in Source View mode, then click "Layout" to change to Layout View. Then add something using the UI in Layout View. It is very easy to enter valid HTML in Source View mode that makes Layout View mode fail while editing in Layout View mode afterwards.
Ah, now I understand what you were saying. Sorry for the earlier misunderstanding.
I've actually never seen that happen, but that's because I almost always do my layouts in Layout view and only switch to source view when I find it easier to delete specific HTML or clean it up a bit.
I have seen the opposite phenomenon, however. That is, I've added elements in layout view for an intended HTML structure and found that WOBuilder missed once in a while. I will guiltily admit, however, that this has typically happened in the heat of pressured development and I didn't take the time to determine exactly what happened or file a bug report.
