On a somewhat related note, I'd always wondered why the EO model and WO component bundles had a flat structure - they didn't have the usual single Contents/ directory containing the actual files. Instead, they just had a bunch of files at the first level of the folder. Recently, it occurred to me that this was for the benefit of developers on Windows - they can't just double click on the folder to open the model or component. They have to drill down a bit and double- click on the right file - this saves a level of drilling.

Maybe now that WO development on WIndows is deprecated, Apple can restructure the bundles a bit to be more conventional. However, since NIB files still have the same one-level arrangement - presumably an artifact of the OpenStep on WIndows days - I doubt it.

(One thing I would like is if the files in the .wo bundles weren't named the same as the enclosing folder itself. Instead, every .wo should contain, index.html, index.wod, & index.woo. That would make it easier to rename & copy WO components just by renaming the bundle, without getting into the package contents.)

I've always assumed that it stands for "directory", it being a
file package. The 'd' in rtfd would have the same meaning.

Humm. I always took the "d" in rtfd/eomodeld to mean "Document Package/Bundle," but I suppose that's basically the same thing.

Just idle curiosity, does anyone recall why that second d is there?
