i have to say that i, as one of the many dedicated webobjects developers who couldn't attend WWDC this year, am pretty pissed now that there is a some big secret that half of the community know about, and half of us don't.

This topic regarding disclosure has been beaten to death over the years. Apple's corporate policy is keep their intended products secret. They reveals only as much as is necessary at WWDC to allow developers to revise their products as necessary to support new features.

There will never be a "WebObjects roadmap" -- that's the way it is, and we have to live with it.

WebObjects will never be open source -- that's the way it is, and we have to live with it.

WebObjects is alive and well in Leopard, and as in any healthy software, things atrophy and die, and are replaced. We're not at liberty to speak of those details so we asked for a statement to be shared with those who could not attend, and we have been told that will be done.

Maybe the issue for many of us is the uncertainty caused by our perception of conflicting signs from Apple. On one hand we see WO tools (EOModeler, WOBuilder, etc.) are being deprecated, the very base essential tools for the starting WO developers, and on the other hand, we (of us not at WWDC) hear from some of you NDA'd folks that there are great things to come, although so far in the previous years we have seen only little to rejoice about.

That's my 2 cents.

Jonny
