I've fortunately received training from two Apple engineers. I was trained on XCode and WOBuilder. I understand the complaints about them - but they're home. I once installed Eclipse/WOLips because I was using Practical WebObjects as a reference. I have to say that installing and grasping Eclipse/WOLips was very difficult since I don't have a background in java development and packaging. I guess I have lots of reading to do.

I *strongly* agree that it is important to get training on WO if your time is of any value for you. I learned WO the hard way and it was far from a pleasurable experience to see that these snazzy editor things only take you so far. And it took an *age* compared to what some good coaching would have done.

From the Eclipse/WOLips training I gave in June I also had the impression that even hard-core XCode people become mellow pretty quickly, once you show then all the cool tricks and features :P

I also see that there might be some group of developers that are, well, not good in Java and still can create cool stuff in Eclipse. I had this pointed out to me in full color on the Wonder lists recently, but for those, frankly I have nothing to say except darn I'm sorry for them.

IMO, you need to be pretty good with Java, SQL, HTML and CSS to make it worth the effort to learn WO in the first place...

Cheers, Anjo
