C'mon! I have some experience doing open source development and if I learned one thing from that, it would be that I am not allowed to complain, while the users are born with this right :-)

There are different categories of users too. Certainly there are troll whose only purpose in life is to complain. They may have valuable feedback hidden among the rants, but it is not worth the time spent filtering out the noise. Another category is people who got a bad first impression and they are rather upset with it (even if this was for all the wrong reasons). Usually their feedback (although often unpleasant), contains clues on how to improve things. If it does, use it; if it doesn't - just ignore it.

You people should be ashamed of yourself.

Certainly they should not - this is internet and everyone is entitled to an opinion :-) A user may have a valid reason to complain, and a developer may have a good reason (lack of resources, etc.) to ignore the complaint.

Then I'd like to see one of *you* coming forward and working 6 weeks full time to prevent people from needing to edit plists in TextEdit.

Ain't gonna happen. The dedicated core developers will always be a small group. And the rest of the world will continue to complain. That's how it works. Really. I was tempted to use a similar argument in the past (and maybe did a few times), but now I think about it as my personal choice to spend my time on the product that I share. Certainly don't feel like anyone else is obligated to do the same (or even buy me beer :-))

Cheers,
Andrus

My feedback would be to a) join the list and make some official and specific requests for enhancements, b) contribute to the project and help fix some of these complaints you have, or c) don't use it.

What he said, only not as nicely:

While I can understand that someone might find the interface of Eclipse a bit lacking, I think it's a slap in the face for all of those who invest their valuable time to make WO development possible in the future and decide to share their code and experience for free when a 10 billion $ company just gave you the shaft.

You people should be ashamed of yourself.

We certainly welcome enhancements, fixes, or even only ideas, but you must be aware that all the work currently rests on a very small amount of people and they *will* simply stop when the amount of signal to noise progresses to the worse.

Then I'd like to see one of *you* coming forward and working 6 weeks full time to prevent people from needing to edit plists in TextEdit.

Cheers, Anjo
