What someone could also look into - if she was a halfway
experienced SWT developer - is check out Spindle, the editor for
Tapestry and see if that is more adaptable than the WST we
currently use.
I was also wondering if the FireFox platform might provide some
good support for HTML editing. I have used some pretty amazing
plugins. I have no idea what it is written in...
The core of Firefox is written in C++. The extensions are written
with XUL, a mix of CSS/DOM/JavaScript. They also have a Java-to-
XPComp brigde (http://www.mozilla.org/projects/blackwood/connect/) to
make XPComp components in Java.
Someone should make a Java port of WebKit or Gecko, but I guess it
will not be easy task.
