Just some thoughts after going through the archives of the past months
and weeks for the new Wiki.
My opinion would be to get things started and online instead of
waiting for the perfect solution written in WebObjects.
The Wiki is in place for editing projects and colleting ideas, thanks
to Andrus from ObjectStyle once again for getting this up and running.
A bug tracker (JIRA as in place for WOLips already) can also be made
available on the same site.
Wocode, WoFoundation, WhyWebObjects and WOForge are existing sites or
in planning/development (There may be other initiatives, sorry. I may
have missed them in all the messages, please add yours to the Wiki).
Many offers for hosting such sites and mailing lists etc. were also posted here.
In short, what's missing except for a CMS to base these community sites upon ?
The CMS could be pure Java (Magnolia, OpenCMS, Apache Lenya...) and/or
be static pages generated with WebObjects if there is no suitable
solution.
I'm all for for more WO source code and building blocks for generic
funtionality as Arturo suggested, but this may take some months.
We could always gradually switch over as more and more tools become
available written in WebObjects.
My fear is if we wait to create all the community pages in WebObjects
from scratch, it will take (too) long and momentum would be lost in my
opinion.
Too many people waiting on the sidelines forced to wait as others pointed out.
Anyway, just my input.
Marc
