My MacMini Core Duo 1.66Ghz is TWICE fast than my Xserve G5 Mono 2Ghz (XML Trasformation) 2.38 minutes against 5:16 minutes.

It's not only that - a MacBook Pro 2.33GHz C2D is about four times faster with PostgreSQL (pgbench) than dual G5 1.8GHz. We're getting an Intel Xserve 2.0GHz next week and I'll do some database performance testing on that.

And Java is much faster on the Intel machines too.
