Hello Piotr and list,

possible to deploy using >Linux (and we all know that's quite simple
to manage)
>it's _not_legal_.

Maybe Apple Europe was referring to WO 5.3, not WO 5.3.1 ?

- The XCode 2.2 developer applies for WO 5.3.1 deployments on other
platforms, not the OS X Server license. Details can be found here:
http://lists.apple.com/archives/webobjects-dev/2006/Feb/msg00058.html

- According to this relevant XCode 2.2 license, deployment is legal.
The excerpt from the relevant license text for WO 5.3.1 can be found
here:
http://www.friday.com/bbum/2005/11/11/webobjects-deployment-license-change/

A layman summary here (first bullet point) from Apple's page:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302797

- But deployment with WO 5.3.1 on other platforms is unsupported.

So, in short: Legal, but unsupported (which I completely understand
from Apple's perspective since WO is now free of charge).

- For officially supported configurations on other platforms, people
can still license older WO 5.2 deployment keys here...
http://developer.apple.com/softwarelicensing/agreements/webobjects.html
...or buy boxed WO 5.2.x copies.

At last that's my understanding after following the discussion for the
past 3 months.

Please correct if needed, since I am neither a lawyer nor work at Apple.

I hope that helped.

PS: Now, to change from legal to technical issues, we still can't get
Single Servlet Directory Deployment (on Tomcat 5.5) builds to work on
other platforms using WO 5.3.1. Details here:
