Hi list,
For a very specific need (a migration from WO 4.5 Obj-C to 5.2), we are working on a non-regression framework. The database schema is actually quite complex and the app quite huge, too (30 years/man).
The non-regression environment features the old applications set and the new one (in progress). Each app, its database: the 4.5 uses Oracle 9i (as in production), and the latest one 10g (the target).
For some reasons I could detail, would someone be interest in, we want to use the flashback, which is a cool feature from Oracle servers, both present on 9i and 10g, but much better implemented in 10g. More infos at http://www.oracle.com/oramag/oracle/02-jan/o12plsql.html
The question is: does anyone has a suggestion, or even better, did anyone actually make a try to use 10g with the EOAdaptor 4.5 ? I deeply know it is anyway not supported, and it won't be used in production, only in non-regression env. The operations performed on the database are simple: insert, update, delete, call stored proc.
Would it work, I could used 10g for non-regression with 4.5 and 5.2, which would save us a lot of code. Not a big deal to make the try myself, but if anyone already tried it, it would save me time. My guess: it shouldn't work, but...
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
