Hi all.
I am new to WebObjects but not to programming.
I am creating a new app in WO, what I want to happen is when a
user clicks on a
link they get a pop up window that keeps focus until they click the
ok or cancel buttons.
The idea is to have (for example) a list of data and allow the user
to search, filter etc
using the pop up window for input.
I have looked at JSModalWindow but of course it dosnt stop the
calling window getting
focus back whilst its still open. Has anyone done this sort of
thing? is it possible? I have searched the
net, lists, books etc and cant find any information.
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.
Hmm,
I'm not quite sure what it is that you are trying to achieve Paul.
But it is important to realize that once you have delivered a page to
the browser there is no longer anything 'WebObjects' about it. It is
just HTML. If what you want to achieve is possible with HTML,
Javascript, AJAX, CSS, or any other client-side web technology, then
it is possible in a page delivered by WebObjects.
Might I suggest you search for examples of web apps/sites that do
what you want and figure out how they've done it? Once you've
identified the technique, you can figure out how to build a
WebObjects component to emulate it.
I have a feeling that what you want to do is not very weblike, and
you might want to rethink your UI.. but then I've always been
conservative and pessimistic about such things :-)
