WOLips fixes this (i just committed the missing fix for varchar(xx)NOT NULL), but only in the 3.3.x/nightly builds. Like Chuck said, I would wait for 5.4.1 at least.
To clarify, WOLips fixes them for Entity Modeler SQL gen ... If you generate SQL at runtime, it will still be broken. This "fix" is also a TOTAL hack (regex mucking with generated SQL). But if you're only generating SQL from EM, this will fix it.
