Miguel,

Hi!

Why not just use the Wonder ERPrototype framework and some easy configuration using the Properties file? This way, it wouldn't be point and click, but it would be very easy to install the app on any DB you have around.

Never used WOnder. I do JC only, and a few times I browsed the scarce WOnder documentation, it appeared mostly web related. So, I wouldn't know.

Anyway, if you want to do point and click, 5.4 comes with Derby <http://db.apache.org/derby/> built-in, I think (not 100% sure, I'm still on 5.3). Derby would do the trick, I guess. Check out posts in this list about fixing some classpath issues in Apple examples that use Derby. I think Pascal did a Podcast about it.

Now, this sounds more like it. OK, I must admit, I am somewhat server- side retarded. So, there are a lot of questions buzzing in my head about using ant building with 5.2 and 5.3, WOLips capabilities with those versions etc... So, in short, is it possible to make super simple app server (doing nothing basically) that uses Derby (5.2 and 5.3 users would have to download it and add it to their classpath) and builds and runs on anything from 5.2 to 5.4? AND, an even more important question, would someone volunteer to do it? Remember, we are talking about a do-nothing app server, it just needs to run and connect to some kind of an example DB. I will supply the JavaClient WO component, and of course the client side app, tailored for whatever DB is served by the app server.

Btw, this would help me make a good example of the library I have invested many, many hours of personal time into, that will be open sourced and is aimed at keeping the WO(JC) community going strong. So, please, don't be shy...
