I don't know if (how?!) I missed this development or what, but if you
search for "WebObjects" on Amazon, you can find this book:
http://www.amazon.com/Beginning-Xcode-WebObjects-Novice-Professional/
dp/1590596838/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/103-0474734-2331059?
ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1173458222&sr=8-1
But not shipping for 4-7 weeks? What's up? :-)
I started WO with the Visual QuickStart guide, mostly just because I
like those. I don't think I would suggest it at this point. It is
good if you're just getting started, but the things that I've seen
mentioned on this list and the WikiBook about best practices are
definitely not things that the QuickStart adheres to.
My two favorite references are Practical WebObjects (Chuck & Sacha)
and the WebObjects Developer Guide (Mendis). I have found both of
them to contain useful practical applications of the fundamentals. I
also have used the WikiBook quite extensively (thanks Mike, for
getting that one off the ground!).
Also, I would really recommend an ADC select membership. I found the
ADC on iTunes WO fundamental sessions from WWDC (past & present) to
be very helpful, but that was, of course, prior to the deprecation of
Apple's apps. Plus you get a hardware discount, seeding, and other
various freebies.

Jeremy-
You may want to take a look at a poet my me on Mar 7 re:'Question
about WORepititions'
in which I offer a mini-review of books I recently read.
Only book I omitted is "Webobjects 5.0 with Java" (Wrox Press
2001). It is not too good in my opinion - too high level and the
sample code is NOT available (although I did learn from the WO Wiki
that the Netstruxr example did transform into the Project WONDER).
There are 2 chapters dealing on Direct to Web(D2W)) templating and
the D2W Rules Engine, which are advanced WO features and which I
have not found in other books. I bought it for $1.87 off Amazon, so
no complaints here.
I you have gotten past the basics, then I would say the Ravi Mendis
book is quite good for progressing to a more intermediate level.
The examples build, for the most part, interatively so when you
finish you have a quite full-featured application built using
previously built reusable components. The code was built using
ProjectBuilder, which is the predecessor to Xcode; some the the
apps will compile/run using todays Xcode 2.4.1- others will not
(because of lacking dependencies such Apache FO XO processor jar).
But I deleted these superfluous component/classes from the project,
then copied them into an Eclipse project, where they ran quite well
(with a few bugs); and I practiced from within Eclipse.
Also the 'Practical WebObjects' is excellent, but does use Eclipse
for its demos. So you would have to copy/transform the demos a bit
for Xcode use.

Chuck (or anyone listening),
Did the xcode +wo book ever get published?
If so, where can I get a copy?
If not, what other books would (anyone) recommend?
Which books would you stay FAR, FAR AWAY from?
Thanks,
jeremy
