In that same discussion thread someone did however try the procedure and wrote about it on a blog or a wiki. You should be able to find the link in the archives.

If you can manage to find a 5.2 CD ! WO 5.3 on windows sounds like a nightware, Apple had a really weird idea to drop the windows support...
