In that same discussion thread someone did however try the
procedure and wrote about it on a blog or a wiki. You should be
able to find the link in the archives.
This is the link that was posted by someone and good to see:

In WO5.3.3 for Windows, there are at least a few points that I could think
of:
1. EOGenerator for Windows may not ready for use. I have tried to follow
up and yet to know the status.
2. Do you want to develop in Eclipse/WOLips or ProjectBuilder?
Eclipse/WOLips should work well in Windows. Reuse ProjectBuilder from
WO5.2.x for WO5.3.3 development? I have not tried this until I got the
WO5.3.3 frameworks later.
3. Deployment could not be done through simplest and best JavaMonitor way,
due to license string now only supports Unix platform.
Could someone to suggest if one has done with WO5.3.3 on Windows.
If you can manage to find a 5.2 CD !
WO 5.3 on windows sounds like a nightware, Apple had a really weird
idea to drop the windows support...
Agreed. It sounds nightmare and weird, weird, weird. However, dropping
windows support did make me SERIOUSLY thinking to get a Mac station...just
for WebObjects. Hope the minority of Windows WO developers could go through
this tough transition to WO5.3 and beyond..And as someone pointed out ::
there is no room for sighing and The three options: Follow, Against or Drop
entirely.
Cheers
