Sure, but in the case of WO, all the finalizers are perfectly legit. Of the three instances in WO proper where finalizers are even defined, the only one that actually matters at all is EC's, and if you're totally against finalizers running to clean things up, simply .dispose() your EC's manually, which is essentially all its finalizer does anyway (which also corresponds to Bloch's advice as well).
