Greetings,

I can't resist the impulse to jump on my web accessibility soapbox at this point and recommend that if you insist on using a visual captcha in your web application, that you also provide an audio alternative to those using assistive technology such as Apple's VoiceOver or JAWS from Freedom Scientific.

Obviously screen reading technology is unable to read the graphics presented in a visual captcha, making it very difficult for screen reader users to register on your site.

Providing an audio alternative is not always practical, so listing an email address on your signup form for people requiring some assistance with the captcha is often a good compromise.

We are only talking about a very small percentage of users who are likely to visit a given site, but it's still worth a couple of minutes to consider web accessibility.

I'll keep it brief, but it goes with out saying there is a vast quantity of information about web accessibility out there, just ask Google.

Cheers,

Mitch

Hi All,

Does anyone have a suggestion regarding a free captcha generator, that works well with WO ? We wouldn't complain at all if there was some code you could throw our way in regards to implementing it to. In fact we woudl be most grateful.

Thanks
