WOX looks good, but if anybody is interested in a JSON-RPC alternative
(server-side is stable, client-side in development state) then first
get familiar with the JSON-RPC infrastructure in LEWOStuff for WO (see
PDF and my WOWODC2008 video) and then take a look at the code-
snapshots in the PDF for ActionScript. I can supply you with the
ActionScript classes if you would like to go further and try it out.

Well, now, it seems, Wox has been stable and running for some time,
so you
can safely use it. Of course, development and bugfixes still occur,
but the whole
thing is quite usable.

I'm quite interested in Flex integration...

I'm doing some work with integrating Adobe Flex and WO via JSON-
RPC at the moment. The flex JSON-RPC client-side is just in
developmental state and has not been used in a deployment yet.
You can see the sort of workflow in the LEWOStuff overview PDF
under "6.23.26" -- let me know if you'd be interested.
Conceptually, this works quite differently to WOX though.
